Position Details
Reporting directly to a Crew Leader, a “Maker” is an experienced construction craftsman, part of our award-winning construction team that builds Pratt Guys custom backyards. Pratt Guys design, manufacture and build
our own pergolas and outdoor kitchens and are proud to say our product is the best in the country.
Reports directly to: Crew Leader
Department: Construction Team
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm (can vary), occasional Saturdays / Full Time
Responsibilities
- Ability to perform physical labor
- Maintaining Pratt Guys equipment in safe, good-working order
- Keeping your crew’s truck and it’s tools within safe and good-working order
- Being well prepared for the day ahead, week(s) ahead
- Exemplifies excellent craftsmanship in all areas of construction
- Articulately and politely communicates with Client
- Able to handle projects from start to finish
- Strive to meet project schedule requirements
- Reporting equipment problems, crew personnel issues and other conditions that could alter the day’s project plans
- Executing tasks and assignments given to you by your direct superior
- Taking :30 lunch breaks from Noon- 12:30pm, no earlier or no later
Daily Tasks
- Executing project build-outs with your crew
- Working with lumber, cutting, and building products of all sizes with lumber
- Building backyard structures within all stages of the project within code, planning accurately and efficiently (project
examples: pergolas, cabanas, outdoor kitchens, decks, patios, etc) - Using common hand tools, power tools, and all woodworking machines
- Performing finishing stages for wood/concrete (stain, sealer, paint, etc.)
- Ensuring you are prepared for the next day’s work
- Using smartphone applications and web-based software to organize and document client projects (ie: Basecamp,
Slack, Google apps) - Duties can evolve depending on employees’ skill sets and responsibilities of the role, which can fluctuate in response
to daily client/business demands
Requirements
- 1-2 years experience in the field of construction, woodworking, and/or related fields
- Exemplifies excellent craftsmanship in all areas of labor
- Able to read and communicate a tape measure to the 16th of an inch
- Professional level of experience with power tools and hand tools
- Able to safely and effectively use all woodworking tools (table-saw, band-saw,planer, circular saw, router)
- General understanding of common build processes (framing, trim/woodworking, reading build plans)
- Strives to give their best self every single day, motivated to be wildly successful
- Works effectively in a team environment
- Ability to manage time wisely
- Uses tools responsibly and always cleans up the work area after themselves
- Has a current/valid driver’s license and a vehicle for transportation to and from Pratt Guys
- Strong problem-solving skills, meeting unexpected problems head-on with solutions that work
- Comprehension of Pratt Guys Design and Project Process
- Ability to deliver the Pratt Guys experience and Pratt Promise™ every single day
